OBITUARY

Bessie Kate Roberts was born January 17, 1934 in Autauga County, Alabama, to the late Elijah and Bertha Harris. She was married to the Late Arthur Roberts who has gone on before her. After praising The Lord in His sanctuary on Sunday afternoon January 14, 2018, she listened for her name being called home by her Lord and Savior.

Kate Lee, as she was affectionately called accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Her acceptance of a walk with God continued to grow as she worshipped Kate Lee served in several capacities of the Church. Her love for the Church compelled her to sing in the choir in her early years and to join the Missionary ministry. Kate Lee was a dedicated, loyal, and a faithful member.

Kate Lee enjoyed fishing on the creek and watching baseball games. Her favorite team was the "Atlanta Braves." She often looked forward to her travel time with family. She was "THE PILLAR" of the community. She loved word search puzzles, flowers and sitting on her front porch on a warm, sunny day waiting for someone to come by to fellowship, talk and laugh about the goodness of the Lord

Kate Lee was a retired housekeeper to the family of Dr. Walter and Mona Till. She was more than just a housekeeper, she was family. She raised their children and over the years, became a dear friend to Mona.

Kate Lee was the matriarch of the Roberts Family. Family was most important to her. She believed in family gatherings and family commitments. She modeled her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin and friend with unconditional love. She was a supporter, protector, provider, and encourager and when there was a need, a peacemaker or voice of reason. She saw purpose and value in everyone, especially youth; inspiring her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren to seek an education and strive for greatness. There was no celebration or life changing event that was too small for Kate Lee; she was always the head cheerleader, the mighty force, so strong yet so gentle.

Kate Lee's life was fulfilled by her family, friends, and church family. She leaves to cherish her precious memories four children: Richard (Katrina) Roberts of Kennesaw, Georgia, Jackie (Diane) Roberts of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bertha (Melvin) Hendricks of Meridian, Mississippi and Carolyn Guidry of Prattville, Alabama;  Three sisters; Dorothy Harris, Birdie McCrae and Evelyn Coleman all of Prattville Alabama; seven grandchildren; Sonja Roberts of Montgomery, Alabama, Yolanda Roberts of Prattville, Alabama Maverick (Tinisha) Roberts of Memphis, Tennessee, Marcel Roberts, Kimberly (Calvin) Anderson both of Prattville Alabama, Michelle (Kelvin) Kirksey of Alabaster, Alabama, and Tammy (Jimmy) Deramus of Deatsville, Alabama.
