Mr. John Bates, age 68, a resident of Prattville, AL passed away at his residence Saturday, April 7, 2018.  Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11am from New Beginning Church, 281 County Road 29 Prattville, Alabama with Senior Pastor Eric Tyrone Zeigler, Pastor and Rev. Jerry Giles officiating.  Burial to follow at popular Springs Cemetery ( Church Yard) with Military Honors.

                                                            OBITUARY

On Saturday, April 7, 2018 John Wesley Bates, Jr. made a peaceful transition into eternal rest.  John was born March 26, 1950 in Birmingham, AL, to the Late Mr. John Wesley Bates, Sr. and Sadie Mae (Harbison) Bates.

As a child he joined Popular Springs A. M. E. Zion Church.  He accepted Christ into his life and continued his relationship with the  Lord until he was called home.  John was a high spirted man that always greeted you with a smile and a kind word.  He made a friend everywhere he went.  he loved his family, but he loved the Lord more.

He is preceded in death by his wife; Mrs. Lee Ahrens - Bates , his parents; John Wesley, Jr. and Sadie Mae Bates; one brother; Willie Lewis (Lil Man) Bates.

He leaves to cherish his memories, four loving children; LaTonja Thomas, , Montgomery, AL, Jonathan (Lutece) Bates; Jeremy Bates, all of Prattville, AL; and Qiana Copeland, Princeton, NJ.  Nine grandchildren; DesKendre, Courtavires, Niah, Aaliyah, Adonis, Qionte, Qeon, Jack, Jadan.  Five brothers; Albert ( Mary) Harbison, Montgomery, AL; Henry (Doris) Bates, Augusta, GA; Walter (Christy) Bates, Fairbank, Alaska; Jerry (Sabrina) Bates, Prattville, AL.

Warren Daniels, Wetumpka, AL.  Five sisters; Otelia Bates, Georgianna Bates, Fannie Bates, Lola (Eric) Dozier; all of Prattville, AL; Mary (Edward) Mooney, Montgomery, AL; One Sister-in-Law; Eveleon Bates, Prattville, AL.  Two uncles; Eddie Harbison, Columbus, GA; James Harbison, Baltimore, MD.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
