                                                      Darryl Travell Davis

Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.  Isaiah  57:2

Darryl Travell Davis was born on September 12, 1970 in Prattville, Alabama.  Affectionately known as "Big D", he was Luzell and Alberdia Davis, Big Bundle of Joy!  Although an only child, he was not spoiled.  His parents instilled in him, a love for God, strong family values, and a responsible work ethic that was reflected in how he lived his life.

While at Billingsley High School, Darryl developed a love for sports.  He was a beast on the basketball court and an iron man on the football field.  A die-hard Alabama fan, his man cave is decked out in Crimson and White, and his casual attire reflected the same.  He graduated from High School in 1988 and enlisted shortly after in the United States Army.  He served his country for 9 years as an Amament / Artillery Maintenance Operator / Electronics Repairer and was honorably discharged.

Darryl's passion was tinkering.  To him, an instruction manual was simply a waste of time, "If I can take - I can put it back together - I was born with that".  His passion for tinkering and maintenance led him to employment at: Coca Cola, Steris Corporation, Pik Nik Products, and Whitfield Foods where he worked as a Technician for 14 years.

In Darryl's eyes only, he was a Grill Master! He would grill anything but roadkill.  He would Google and watch You tube to to concoct his own meat rub.  In fact, his latest grill toy involved searching for a smoker that had at least one more rack than brother-in-law, Sam.  Although, he never backed down from a little family barbeque cook-off competition with Zander and Sam, somehow the ribs and chicken never measured up to his father-in-law, Goodson, Senior.

While in high school, Darryl met the apple of his eye at the "Big Bear" grocery store, where he bagged groceries and was the cashier.  Admittedly it was not love at first sight, and after the first date she felt they had "absolutely nothing in common."  Howver, they discovered the exact opposite.  Darryl persevered and on February 26, 1994, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Carla Goodson.  Darryl was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Ameltria, and he was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his granddaughter, Amiya Demetria Burns

Darryl departed his earthly life and went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Alberdia Davis; maternal grandparents, Frank and Lucy Brown Sr;  and paternal grandparents, Beatrice and Mitchell Davis Sr.

His precious memories will be cherished by a loving and devoted wife, a doting daughter along with son-in-law, Carlos Burns; and a faithful father.

The Goodson family will forever cherish his memory:  Father and Mother-in-law: Napoleon and Ann Goodson; Sisters-in-law: Patricia harris, Prattville, AL; Cheryl (Alexander) Mims, Millbrook, AL; and Tanya (Derrick) McClain, Ramer, AL; Brothers in-law: Terry (Delores) Goodson; Cedric Goodson; and Napoleon (Beverly Ford) Goodson iii, all from Prattville, AL; and a niece and nephew whom he considered as his own; Nathan J.
