Eula Motley Obituary

Eula Mae Motley was born April 9, 1938 in Prattville, AL to the late Johnny Lee Motley and Minnie Pickett.  She departed this life on November 23, 2019 at her home.  Eula accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her death.

Eula had a passion for caring for kids.  She never met a child that she didn't love.  She was a faithful aide to two Pastor's and their families of the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church.  She served as a mother to Pastor Ezekiel & Pamela Pettway and a grandmother to their three children for eight years while he pastored Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church.  She cared for her current Pastor and his wife Reverend Anton & Chantinell Trimble and their two children until her health began to fall.

Eula was a faithful member at her church.  She sang in the Sanctuary and Bass Choir, served on the kitchen committee, the Golden Years Ministry and Mission Ministry.  She was a diligent Sunday school worker and cleaned the church for many years.

Eula was preceded in death by her parents Johnny Lee Motley and Minnie Pickett, one sister Beulah Mae Jones, three brothers: Willie Pickett, Junior Pickett and Leo Pickett.  

She leaves to cherish her many beloved memories, and will be greatly missed by all of the children she raised.

Her sister Beulah Mae Jones; three children: Marzette (Mary) Jones of Whiting, New Jersey, Bettie (Alonzo) Ashley, and Elizabeth (Joseph) Albright both of autaugaville, AL.  A friend of the family's five children, Raymond (Ester) Tyus of Millbrook, AL, Brenda (Jimmy) Nixon, Carla Jean Tyus, Tashi Tyus all of autaugaville, AL and Cynthia Tyus of Prattville, AL.  She loved and raised all eight of them as her very own children.

One brother LB Pickett, eleven grandchildren: Andrell (Jimmy) Kilgore, Chevelle DeRamus, Keyana Cook, Angela Rene Smith, Michelle (Joseph) Thomas, nadina (Bryan) Brake, Wendell Marvin Jones, Anthony Jerry Jones, DeKevious  Thomas, Jadarrius  Tyus, and Kyree Cain, twelve great-grandchildren: Destinee' Tyus, Jessica Tyus, Kiara Tyus, Jeremiah Hawthorne, Janell Kilgore, Javon Smith, Rodriquez Smith, Carlysia Thomas, Jabari Thomas, Jamie Brake, Bryan Brake, Jr. and Bryson Thomas, two great-greatgrandchildren: Braylen Tyus and Brendyn Tyus.  A host of nieces, nephews, relative, and caring friends.

A special son Reggie White, a special grandson Brandon Griffin, a special daughter Trina Parker Griffin, a very special cousin Gracie Smith, her special friends Leola Johnson, Emma DeBardelaben, and Carolyn Underwood.  She loved playing with Ivy Motley.  Eula loved everyone with her "Big" heart.  She was a once and a lifetime jewel that will be greatly missed.

Special thanks to Dr. Narsh Bellman and his staff at the Montgomery Cancer Center, and special thanks to Autherine Brown and the Gentiva Health Family for all the care and love they showed Eula during her illness.
