A Time to Be Born:
Mary Lou Smith was born on January 12, 1925 to the late Andrew and Pearlie Bates.
A Time to Build :
She met and married Mose Smith Sr. in April 1943. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and served diligently in Lily Hill Missionary Baptist Church as the Mother of the Church and a choir member until her health failed. She was employed at Capitol Hill Nursing Home, Montgomery, AL for 6 years, and came home to be a home maker providing care for her family. She was member of the Order of Eastern Star Leona Chapter # 140 Millbrook, Alabama.
A Time to Die:
On November 18, 2019 at Fresenius Dialysis Center, God dispatched his Heavenly Angles to capture the soul of Sister Mary Lou Smith and bring her home to live eternally.
A Time to Mourn:
She was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years Deacon Mose Smith, Sr.; three sons: Thomas Smith, Lewis Smith, Sr., and Charlie James Smith; her mother and father; four sisters and three brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memories five sons: Henry (Rebbie) Smith, Montgomery, AL; Mose (Tanner) Smith, Jr., Millbrook, AL; Theodis Smith, Morris Smith, and Larry (Virgina) Smith, Prattville, AL; three daughters: Mary Spivey, Thelma (Ollie) Nixon, Mongomery, AL;Barbara (Michael) Burt, Prattville, AL; one step-daughter Priscilla (Cleve) Palmore, Millbrook, AL; a special daughter-in-law: Barbara Hinkle Smith; two Godsons: Johnny (Jackie) Hoskin, and Monroe Roberts; three brothers: Willie Frank (Carolyn) bates, David Bates, and Sylvester (Evelyn) Bates; six sisters: Lucille Wise, Delois (Curtis) Crosby, Dorothy Young, Mary Bates, Katie Bates, and Sara Wilson; a very devoted grandson: Lewis Smith, Jr.; two very devoted granddaughters: Carolyn (Thomas) Scott and Jessica (Frederick) Moore; ten devoted grandchildren: Migda, Terry, Lyshonda, Thomas, Rasheda, Timothy, Levon Jr., Jeremy, Le'Tara, and Brayden. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, family, and friends. Special niece: Barbara Ann (Eugene) Jackson; special cousin: Odessa Woods; and special neighbor McKinley (Ann) Ross.
