Mr. Melvin "Pop" Lee Smith, Jr. a resident of  Prattville, AL departed this life on Monday Spetember 23, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m at Lily Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Prattville, AL Rev. Geno Tolver, Pastor and Rev. McKinley Ross, Pastor Macedonia Baptist Church, Prattville, AL Officiating. Burial will follow in  Springhill Cemetery, Prattville, AL.

Visitation will be held Friday September 27, 2013 at Davis Funeral Home in Prattville, AL from 10:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m.

The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral services.

Melvin Lee SMith, Jr. was born on December 26, 1968 in Prattville,AL to the late Melvin Lee SMith, Sr. and Dorothy Jean Smith.

He confessed Christ at an early age, and joined Macedonia Baptist Church, Prattville, AL.

He departed this life on Monday September 23, 2013, at Baptist Medical Center-South in Montgomery, AL.

He was raised in Autauga COunty where he spent most of his life. He also attended school in the Autauga County School System. He was dedicated to haed ork and took on many jobs in the county. Those that knew Pop Knew that he was a huge fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. He touched the lives of so many people.

The family he leaves to cherish are a very caring and devoted Wife: Phyllis Butler SMith; Five Children: Dondrea Cheeks, ALeshia Butler, Cheryl Butler, Nicole Smith all of Montgomery, AL and Kenard Butler (Muskogee, OK); Four Brothers:Lindsey Anderson, Terrol (Tracey) Smith, Roderick (Sharon) Smith all of Montgomery, AL and Frederick (Annie) Smith (Prattville,AL); Nine Sisters: Gwen (Jim) Lucas, LaTrisha Lewis both of Prattville, AL,Veronica Gardner (Millbrook,AL), Demetrius (Tabaris) Brown, Dinetta Wilson, Stephanie, Vivian, Kimesa, and Shareca Smith all of Montgomery,AL; Three Sister-in-laws and Two Brother-in-laws that he loved so much; Seven uncles, six aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. He aslo leaves six very special friends: Morris Payne, Wayne Cheeks, James Foster, Willie Addison, Raymond Lucas and David Smith.
