Mrs. Mildred Lee Moten Motley age 89 a resident of Prattville, Alabama passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Prattville Baptist Hospital.  Funeral arrangements and survivors will be announced later by Davis Funeral Home.

Dr. John Clay, Pastor with Apostle S. B. Little,Pasto New Birth Ministres Officiaing. burial to follow in Motley Cemetery, Prattville, AL.


Mildred Lee Moten Motley was born October 5, 1928. She was the second of five children born to the parentage of the late Charlie and Eula Moten in Jones, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her  oldest sister, Ruth Motley, two children, Howard and Jerelyn Motley.

Mildred accepted Christ as her personal savior and united with New Salem Baptist Church, Jones, Alabama. Mildred later joined Friendship Missionary Church (FMBC), where she worked diligently as a member of the Missionary Department. Also, while a member of Friendship, she sang with the "Choir of the South" and traveled the State of Alabama, singing praises and uplifting souls for many years along with her "Bosom Buddy," Mrs. Mary Wright and many others.

After many years of dedicated service with FMBC, Mildred joined New Birth Full Gospel Ministries, Prattville, Alabama under the leadership of Apostle S. B. Little, where she served as Mother of the Church. She was loved and respected by all. As the years passed, God's spirit lead Mildred back home where she rejoined the FMBC family, where she served faithfully until her health declined her.

As a teenager, Mildred met and married the love of her life, the late James T. Motley. To this union, nine children were born. Mildred was affectionately known and referred to by many as "Mudear." Mudear loved her family and often boasted boldly of her children and grandchildren. On Tuesday, January 9, 2018, as she was surrounded by her family, God dispatched an angel and said, "Servant of God, Well Done!

Mildred "Mudear" Motley leaves to cherish her memories; Five sons: Harold (Flora), Sylvester (Rosie), Jerry (Joy), Grailen (Tammy), and Richard Motley, all of Prattville, Alabama; two daughters: Gloria (the late Archie) Gardner and Patricia (Dan) Howard; and one step-daughter, Dora (Wendell) Green, all of Prattville, Alabama.

Three sisters: Nettie Grant and Etta Evans, both of Montgomery, Alabama, and Cora Knight, North Adams, Massachusetts; one brother, Jacob Moten, Flint, Michigan; one brother-in-law, Harvey (Prevella) Motley, Prattville, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Leola Johnson, Autaugaville, Alabama; twenty-five grandchildren;  forty-three great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
