Annie Little Obituary

Annie Bell Little, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed from this world on Sunday, May 21st, 2023. She was born in Prattville, Alabama on Friday, October 23rd, 1936, to Mrs. Geneva McGhee and Henry Stoudemire. Annie was lovingly raised by James and Emma Jane Smith.

After graduating from Autauga Alabama County High School, Annie embarked on a journey that took her north to Hackensack, New Jersey. There, she worked as a maid and formed lifelong friendships with Mary, Peggy, and reunited with her cousin Marcella. It was during this time that Annie met her loving husband, Garland Little. Together, they shared a remarkable bond for over 45 years until Garland's passing in 2005. Annie was blessed with two children, Kretricia Smith and Irving Little. Annie had a deep passion for working with children, and she dedicated her career to the New York City school system. Over the years, she held various positions, including paraprofessional, assistant teacher, and assistant principal. Her commitment to education led her to earn an Associate Degree in Education from Lehman College, Bronx, New York.

As a faithful member of Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Harlem, New York, Annie actively served as a member of the Women's Usher Board. Her strong faith guided her throughout her life, and she found solace and strength in her church community, she was also a part of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church family in Prattville, Alabama. Annie cherished spending time with her loved ones, particularly during family gatherings and cookouts. She held a special place in her heart for her two grandchildren, Lauren and Malcolm which they lovingly referred to as Granabell.

One of Annie's greatest joys included going to the casinos. Together with Garland, she meticulously planned casino bus trips for their church in Harlem and local residents from the Bronx. Her quiet spirit and love for travel were evident in these trips and brought fun to those around her. Ann knew everyone in the neighborhood, she interacted with people every morning during her daily walks.

Annie's passing has left a void in the hearts of her beloved and treasured cousins, Carlvetta Wright, Yvonne Patterson, Ola Mae Perkins and God sister Inell Morrow. Also, Annie and her caregiver Jodi bonded at their first meeting, they quickly became the best of friends. Her absence will be deeply felt by all her cousins, nieces, nephews, and the extended Smith and Little families who held a special place in her heart. Annie will be remembered as a compassionate, vibrant, and loving soul who left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

Annie was the oldest of three sisters, Annie Mae Wilson and Luzella Stoudemire. In her passing, she joins her brothers John Henry, Junior L., Howard, Albert, McCluster, and sister Luzella in Heaven. She is survived by her sister Annie Mae (Samuel) Wilson, daughter Kretricia Smith, son Irving Little, daughter-in-law Dorinda Little, granddaughter Lauren Little, and grandson Malcolm Little. Annie was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first greatgrandchild in September of 2023. Friends, family, and all those whose lives were enriched by Annie are welcome to attend and pay their respects. Though Annie may have left this Earth, her spirit and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
