Ardell Butler was born October 14, 1923, in Prattville, Alabama, she was the ninth child of thirteen children: Mary, Lewis, Ethel Lou, Jack, Jeffery, Sally Ann, Elizabeth, Leona, Ida Pearl, George, jessie and Lydia Ruth.
In 1942 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Charlie Butler, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1994. Born out of this union were eight children: Charles Lee (deceased), James, Robert (deceased), Odell 9Deceased), Sharon, Emma Jean (deceased), Randy and Donald.
She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Prattville, Alabama. She and her husband Charlie settled in Detroit, Michigan in 1947 with their children Charles lee, James, Robert, and Odell. Charlie and Ardell became members of East Last Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend C. J. Gadson, then located on Tennessee Street.
Ardell served on the Deaconess Board alongside our father Deacon Charlie Butler, Jr., she served on the Nurses Guild for many years. Mother's favorite song was by the Mississippi Mass Choir "I Ain't Tired Yet, Working for Jesus."
To cherish her Memory Ardell leaves to rejoice in her HOME GOING: One Brother: Jessie (Edna Pearl) DeRamus of Roseville, Michigan; Sister-in-law: Willie Pearl DeRamus of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Her children: James (Carolyn) Butler of Moore, South Carolina; Sharon (Jimmy) Randolph and Randy Butler both of Detroit, Michigan; Donald butler of Prattville, Alabama; Son-in-law: Stephen Arthur of Montgomery, Alabama; ad Daughter-in-law: Susan Butler of Prattville, Alabama; Cousin: Estelle Kelly of Washington, D.C., nineteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
