Bertha Livingston Obituary

Bertha Livingston was born July 23, 1944 to Mr. Henry Taylor and Mrs. Hellen Homes Lucas. She was the oldest of four children's. After the early passing of their birth mother they were raised by their relatives Mrs. Mary Francis Jones and Mr. Fred Jones who became their devoted parents. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the New Lily Green Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for her entire life.

She also attended North Highland School in her early years and was a member of the Rising Star Lodge #8 in Old Kingston. Bertha was later joined in marriage to Mr. Wesley Livingston, Sr., with whom she built a home rooted in faith, love, and service.

Bertha's faith guided her daily life. A devoted member of New Lily Green Baptist Church, she served faithfully without seeking recognition. Whether singing with passion in the choir as lead singer, welcoming newcomers, serving in the kitchen or serving wherever needed. She believed serving God meant serving His people.

Bertha never met a stranger and opened her home and heart to all. As a compassionate caregiver, she supported families through illness and loss with grace. A talented seamstress who loved designing her own clothing. She expressed love through food, creativity, and beauty. Filling her home with handmade floral arrangements, and treasured antiques always making it feel like home

She departed this life early Thursday morning, January 15, 2026 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Livingston, Sr.; her daughter, Vivian Bea Livingston; two sons, Wesley Livingston Jr. and Calvin Livingston.

She leaves to cherish one loving sister Emma Mae Livingston. She is survived by her daughter Dianne Livingston of Prattville, AL and son Larry (Jocelyn) Livingston of Montgomery, AL. She leaves behind her 10 Grand children and 15 great grandchildren. She is also remembered by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Though the pain of her loss is overwhelming, we find solace in the memories she left behind.

A special thanks to her cousins Betty Motley and Ola Mae DeJarnett. Also, a special thanks to her grand daughter Kedra DeVaughn, wonderful nurse Brianna Lewis RN, Aide Tyrakeisha Robinson and Baptist Prattville Med-Surg Team for their love, care, and dedication.

Her spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by her example. We will forever carry her in our hearts.
