Bessie Mae (Graham) Downs

Mrs. Bessie Downs age 84 a resident of Billingsley, Alabama passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019.  Funeral  Service  will be Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 2pm from Unity Baptist Church, 1315 County Road 1 North Billingsley, Alabama with Rev. Joel Atchison, Pastor officiating.  Burial to follow at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Bessie Mae Downs was born January 1, 1935 to the late Jimmy and Katie Graham in Autauga County.  God called Mrs. Downs home on May 14th , 2019.

At an early age, Mrs. Downs joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church and gave her life to Christ at the age of eighteen.

She met her husband Jessie Downs at The unity Baptist Church in Billingsley, AL, where they later joined in unity 52 years of Holy Matrimony.  She later became a member of The Eastern Star organization.

Mrs. Downs was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Mr. Jessie Downs (one son) George Downs, (two daughters) Catherine Downs and Thelma DeRamus; one granddaughter, mary Catherine Downs.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories four children: Gracie Pickett of Billingsley, AL, McKinley (Belinda) Downs Sr. of Prattville, AL, Christine (Eddie) Mulkey of Billingsley, AL and Geraldine DeRamus of Billingsle, AL, five grandchildren: Harry (Pamela) Johnson, Diane (Mark) Shepard, McKinley (Tasha) Downs, Jr., Na'Sha DeRamus and Philiyah Love; A host of great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; two sisters: Laura Reed, Detroit, MI and Onnie Bell Obanner, Brookville, FL.  She also leaves a host of special nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
