Brenda Gale (Davis) DeRamus, aged 69, passed away on July 30, 2023, at Baptist East Medical Center in Montgomery, Alabama, where she spent her final days. Brenda, fondly known as "Mom," was born on July 20, 1954, to the late Frank Davis Sr. and Ruby Pearl (Willis) Rogers. She was the fifth oldest of eight children, three of whom preceded her in death: Frank Davis Jr., Aaron (Manie Mane) Davis, and Elma Jones.
Mom attended Lutheran Elementary and North Highland High School before being integrated into Autauga County School. She pursued a rewarding career as a caregiver, extending her love and compassion to others in need. Momma had a deep love for reading her Bible, attending church, serving others, and spending time with family. Her energetic spirit brought laughter and joy to those around her, and her culinary talents, especially her chicken salad and collard greens, were cherished by all.
Outside the church walls, Momma's dedication to serving others was evident as a true missionary. Regardless of skin color or social status, her endearment towards people ran deep, and she faithfully collected food from churches and food banks to distribute within the community.
Brenda and Andrew DeRamus Sr. met at North Highland High School, and in 1975, they began a life together, and have been inseparable since then. Their unconditional love led to their marriage on February 13, 1983. They were blessed with six children, two of whom preceded her in death: Carlos (Bleu) Zeigler and Marcus Jones.
Brenda leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Andrew DeRamus Sr.; two sons, Rev. Eric (Lisa) Zeigler of Prattville, AL, and Andrew DeRamus Jr. of Washington, DC; two daughters, April Houser of Duluth, GA, and Kizzy Jackson of Prattville, AL; six sisters, Delois Myers, Lovely DeRamus, Jessie Townsend, Gwen Steele, all of Prattville, AL, Ruby Tyus of Riverdale, GA, and Sandra Reeds of Montgomery, AL; three brothers, Marshall Reeds, Patrick Reeds, and Terry Reeds, all of Montgomery, AL; three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law; 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
