Dorothy Mae Henderson was born in Autauga County, Alabama on August 20, 1936, to the late Walter Davis Jr. and Mary Ruth Davis. During her lifetime, Dot worked in domestic services and in the fast-food and dry-cleaning industries. She also spent many years working at the Tyson Manor Nursing Home in Montgomery, Alabama. Dot was a strong woman with a strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She recognized the blessings that she had received, and she was quick to give of herself to those who were in need. Most recently, she worked at the Senior Center in Billingsley, Alabama, where she had previously been a volunteer. She drove from Prattville five days per week to serve the people at the center and they recognized her gifts and willingness to serve. She was dearly loved.
As a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was often referred to as "the mother of the church," Dot held numerous offices and was a faithful participant in weekly Bible studies and worship services. She was a member of the Senior Choir where she loved to sing. Her singing and her willingness to serve was evident as she was an active participant in Bethlehem's outreach to residents of the Prattville Rehabilitation Center.
