Douglas Gentry Obituary

Preceded in death by his Mother, Jessie Parker Gentry and his father, Rev. Ervin Gentry. He is survived by his wife, Alecia, (Lesa) Ward-Gentry; 1 daughter Maegan Cook; 1 son, Benjamen Brown;  4 grandchildren; 1 Sister, Lisa Gentry-Brown (Bob), 2 brothers, Richard Gentry (Lynn), & David Gentry (Karran); many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins as well as a host of friends.

He was a member of the New Vision Congregational Holiness Church in Sycamore where he loved his Pastors, Walter and Debra Wells and the entire congregation very much.

Douglas loved to minister the gospel, teach the Word of God as well as sing in his church with his wife, Lesa.

He was loved by all who knew him, with his charismatic Spirit and always laughing and joking around. Needless to say, Douglas was always the life of the party.

He worked very hard and diligent as Co CEO of the Sycamore Community Food Share. He worked side by side with his wife and  friend Charlotte Sorrells. This was a ministry that Douglas dove right into not only pick up the food each week, but he  helped pack, load and feed the many less fortunate hurting people in that area as well as, praying for every person who came thru the Food Share. As all the other people who met and loved Douglas, the hundreds of people that came thru the Food Share fell in love with him as well.

He loved his family, wife, children, grand children, brothers, sister and friends as well as his little wiennie dog Ottis (Odie). Everywhere Douglas went Odie is sure to be with him.

He loved life and the Lord with all of his heart and soul and, thou he greatly suffered here, his faith never wavered. Tho he suffered thru many hardships and health problems he is now free from pain, sickness, and heartache. He is in the place that he lived for. The place that  we strive for. He's finally at peace with our Lord and Saviour.  So rest in peace Douglas Alvin Gentry.  We love you and miss you very much!
