We have come together today at the call of death; an event that is constantly occurring around us. Death stares us in the face on all sides. Christianity does not exempt one from death; only insures triumph over death. Moses died, Paul died, Jesus died, and all must die. There is no other way to enter our heavenly Father's house.
The fields that were green a few days ago are now brown. God teaches in His Word, "All flesh is as grass and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower there of falleth away."
We were all so shocked and hurt when we heard that "CJ" had passed away. But our Lord knew, and in His own time He received our beloved "CJ" and relieved him of all his earthly woes. To those of us who are left to mourn, it seems but a short time since "CJ" was a small child going to church and coming home reciting the sermon, nearly word for word, to his father and even serving his father the Lord's Supper. For that reason, it was easy for "CJ" to understand how to accept Christ. He became a Christian at a young age, joined Pleasant Hill AME Church, was baptized and willing to do whatever he could to help others know who Christ is. He later moved his membership to Rhema Word Ministry und Pastor Terence Burke, Sr.
Edwin Charles "CJ" Wells, Jr. was born April 1, 1991 to Angela Bowman Wells and Edwin Charles, Sr. He departed this life on October 10, 2020. He loved his family and gave them freely of his time. He was not selfish, but always ready and willing to help anyone any way he could. To say we will miss him is too mild. As much as our hearts do sadly yearn for one more glimpse of his smiling face, with God's redeemed there is no death; it's only passing through the valley with Jesus to life forever more.
"CJ" was proceeded in death by his brothers, Eric McGhee and Brandon McGhee; grandparents, Paul and Ella Wells; uncles Garrett Wells and Willie Wells; aunt, Ruby Hall.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Angela Wells: father, Edwin Charles, Sr. (Mary Love); brothers, Bryant Bowman and Quincy Armstrong; sisters, La Shasta Richards and Charlene Bowman; grandparents, Brady and Emma Bowman; uncles, Henry (Rosemary) Bowman, Ray (Bernadette) Bowman, Ramsey (Trina) Bowman, Gregory (Kimberly) Bowman, Ray (Bernadette) Bowman, Ramsey Bowman; aunts, Leanna Daniels, Pauline Wells, Christine (Eddie) Brooks, Mary Roberts, Victoria Merriweather, Belinda (Frederick) Edwards, Sheila (Ronald) Lawhorn, Denise (David) Kimbrough, Shnequie (Orwando) Greene; step-sisters, Veronica, Temeka, Lucretia, La Shondra, Miracle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
