Obituary

Esther Mims was born March 7, 1939, in Prattville, Alabama to the late Henry and Ellen McQueen Gipson. She was the second youngest of nine siblings.

Esther attended North Island High School where she met her life partner, the late Eli Mims, and later married in 1949. She had two sons, the late Anthony Tyrone Mims and Richard (Sandra) Lee Mims. For thirty years, she worked as a cook for Anniston Army Depot.

Esther confessed Christ early in life. She rededicated her life to Christ at Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she attended faithful until the death of her husband Eli Mims. She moved to Birmingham, Alabama and attended New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. While at "The Star' she served the Lord faithful as an usher.

She was preceded in death by husband, Eli Mims; sons, Anthony Tyrone Mims and Richard (Sandra) Lee Mims; siblings, Willie (Miami) Gipson, Mary Berry, Henry, Jr. (Silva) Gipson, Joseph (Corine) Gipson and Tommy (Rosa) Gipson; grandchildren, Quincy Smith, Ferris Mims, and Angela (Maurice) Dickinson.

Esther leaves behind grandchildren, Anthony Tyrone, II (Jillitta) Mims, Stephanie (Vaughn) Brown, Eric Eugene (Kelly) Mims, Kimberly Mims, Keith (Kaori) Mims, and Sandra (John) Renfro; sibling, Alberta (William) Fulton, Pauline (Eugene) Livingston and Doris (Arthur) Brown; great grandchildren, Vaughn Amor, Jr. “Trevor” Brown, Matthew Tremayne Brown, Kimberly Yvonne Brown, Anthony Tyrone Mims, III, Anise Monet Ferris, Sierra Marie Mims, Nina Nicole Mims, Jordan Tyreke Mims, Zion Eric Mims, Da'vaisa Mims, Thomas Kaiden Mims, Alantria Staples, Makiah Staples, Iyannah Staples, Jaylon Richard Mims, Sandra K'Mya Mims, II and John Quincy Renfro, two great-great grandchildren, Marcellus Philip Dumont and Zyana May Mims, and host of nephews and nieces.
