Gladys L. Harris Gipson was born on September 28, 1936 to the late Clarence and Gladys Harris.
On Saturday, October 30, 2021, she transitioned from labor to reward and earned her heavenly CROWN.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Percy Lee McNeal, Ollie Williams Brazzley, Carrie Lee
Williams, Genie Ruth Marshall, and Ann Harris Goodson; Ten brothers, Graham Davis, Dan Davis,
Hercules Davis, William Davis Oscar Harris, Rex Harris, Henry Harris, dames Rueben "Red" Harris, Ellis Harris, and Clarence Harris Jr.; a loving daughter-in-law, Vonzetta Gipson; four brothers in law, Frank Gipson, Sama Jemison, Lun Jemison Jr., and Napoleon Goodson Jr; two sisters in law, Katie R. Washington and Barbara Jemison.
She united in Holy Matrimony, to the love of her life, Freddie "Jadey" Gipson Jr. To this union, four children were born.
She graduated from North Highland High School.
She was employed by the Autauga County School system, as a cook, and attended Dietician school. Her culinary skills, which she passed on to her children and were endorsed by many who dined at Charlie Brown's Restaurant and the Capital Stockyard Café, spanned more than 52 years.
She was a lifelong member of the Historic Ward Chapel AME Church, where she served faithfully until her health prevented her from doing so.
Throughout the years, she served on the Steward Board, traveled with the Pastors to deliver communion to the sick and shut in, prepared meals for church annual days, and spear headed the Annual Camp Stew Sale for the Women's Missionary Society where she served as Vice President.
She was a lover of fashionable hats and seldom attended church without her "crown." She never minced her words and instructed those she loved on what actions they should take to succeed in life. Her greatest passion was cooking and fellowshipping with family and friends.
To many, she was Gladys. To family, she was "Little Sister" and "Gip".
