Hester Williams Obituary

“Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Last week on February 12th, 2021, Sis. Hester Reese Williams rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings.

Hester Reese Williams was born in Autauga County on October 12, 1947 to the late Mrs. Alice Mae Slayton Reese and Frank Reese, Sr. Hester was the ninth of ten children. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Frank Reese, Jr., Mary Alice Bowman, Albert Reese. Eddie Lewis Reese, and also Lorenzo Pickett.

Hester confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and remained a member until her passing. She graduated from North Highland High School in 1966. She was united in marriage to Howard Williams and into this union were born five children.

She retired from Prattville Apparel and also worked for Prattville General Hospital. In her community, Hester was a lifetime member of the Sharing and Caring Society, a strong Civil Rights and Community Activist and Political Poll Worker. Hester loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family and friends. For many years she served her church family and many others as a member of the Kitchen Committee at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church as well as being President of the Senior Usher Board.

Hester was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children and anyone that knows them, know that she was a star in their eyes. She left us suddenly, but leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Jeffery (Karen) Williams, Dacula, GA and Danny (Brunette) Williams, College Park, GA; daughters, Tiffany (Jermaine) Williams-Payne, Dallas TX; Elizabeth (Rob) Williams-Robinson, San Antonio, TX; Dondrea Williams, Powder Spring, GA; Marilyn (Tyrone) Willis-Corbitt, Prattville, AL; sisters, Leona Warren, Chicago, IL; Mary Frances Williams, Cleveland OH; Mildred Cowling and Christine Rogers, both of Prattville, AL; also George Pickett and Beverly Carroll, both of Prattville, AL; grandchildren, Porsha Stoudemire, Sharday Williams, Jevon Robinson, Jada Williams, Morgan Brown, Lacey Payne, Danyul Pulley, Kyler Surles, Alyssa Robinson, Lailah Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and church family members.
