Jesse A Taylor

Mr. Jesse A. Taylor age 80 a resident of Lithonia, Georgia formerly of Montgomery, Alabama passed away Monday, April 22, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11am from Davis Funeral Home, LLC Chapel, 362 Walnut Street Prattville, Alabama with Rev. G. L. Townsend officiating.  Burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Autaugaville, Alabama.

Jesse A Taylor was born March , 1939 to the union of Nellie Mae Rodgers and Reed Taylor, Jr.  in Montgomery, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Taylor and Joseph Taylor.  Jesse accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.  He was not an active church member, but he was a believer of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

While living in Montgomery, he attended Booker T. Washington High School.

From an early age, Jesse had a passion for cooking.  He can go into the kitchen and put together a delicious soul food meal in no time at all.  As a teenager when his mom came from work, Jesse would have dinner on the table.  Sometimes his siblings preferred Jesse's cooking over their mom.  (smile)

Jesse married Janice Bufford in 1956 and to this union three children were born; Jacqueline (Deceased), Jeffrey and Juanita.  After moving to Chicago, IL he met and married Mattie Coleman (Deceased) and to this union Monica was born.  He entered into a long term relationship with Willie "Ruth" Jones (Deceased) and to this relationship, they were blessed with daughter Shereece.

When his health failed and his living situation was not desirable, Monica and her husband went to Chicago and moved Jesse to Lithonia, GA to be close to her family so they could proper care of him.  There he was surrounded by his beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Jesse departed this life on Monday April 22, 2019 at 6:30pm in Lithonia, GA.

Even though Jesse has moved on to a better place, his memories will live on in the hearts and minds of his family.

He leaves to mourn his passing four children; Jeffrey Taylor and Juanita Frye (Lamont), Chicago, IL; Monica Taylor Sheats (Bobby), Lithonia, GA; Shereece Taylor Rice (Eddie), Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  One brother, Otis C. Taylor (Dianne), Prattville, AL, one sister Sarah Adams, Chicago, IL and one sister-in-law, Betty Taylor (Joseph, Deceased), Montgomery, AL.

Five nephewss: Dr. Otis Cedric Taylor, Daniel Reed Taylor, (Dominique), Clifton Lawrence, Chicago, IL; Kristopher Taylor, Los Angeles, CA; Joseph Taylor, Jr. Montgomery, AL.  Two Nieces, Connie Smith (Jeffery), Montgomery, AL and Regina Taylor Moffett (Nathan), Katy, TX.

Eight Grandchildren: Vincentia andIdia Egonmwan, Jennifer and Derek Taylor; Shanequa, Charles and Lamere Sims, and Tavon Rice.  He was also blessed with ten Great Grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
