Julia Bell (Smith) Lewis

Mother Julia Bell Lewis, the family matriarch, took her flight on Saturday, January 18, 2020 after a brief stay in hospice.  Julia Bell was born on July 7, 1926 to Moten Smith and Rosie Davis in Autaugaville, Alabama.  She had 16 siblings and was the mother of 10 biological children.  She was a longtime member of Father, Son & Holy Ghost Church under the leadership of the late John S. Baker and then Bishop Algie Morgan.

Julia is loved and celebrated by her community in which she was active.  She worked at the community clothes closet, among other services.  A few years of dedicated service in 2011 by Autauga Retired and Senior Volunteer Program; certificate acknowledging her witness to the love of our God for five generations by her church; President's Call to Service Award presented by the USA Freedom Corp in recognition of her commitment to strengthening our nation and making a difference through volunteer service.

Julia Bell was preceded in death by 14 siblings; 3 children: Mary B. McCary, Gwendolyn McCary, Mary J. McCary; 1 grandson, Anthony Gaines Sr.; 1 sonin love, Supt. Arthur Cunningham.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in th lives of her family: 1 sister, Mother Jessie Harris, 1 brother Willie H (Maggie) Smith; 7 children: Rosetta (Albert) Gaines, MC (Rubie) McCary, Geneva (Abraham) Bozeman, Mable Cunningham, Julia (Sammie) Davis, Alfonzia 9Vanessa) McCary, Clarence (Camillia) McCary; 22 grandchildren: Patricia Wideman, Marsha (Anthony) Averhart, Valerie Thomas, Vincent (Kathy) Bowie, Shannon (Author) Thomas, Alonzo (Sandra) Bozeman, Yulanda (Ronail0 Brown, Keviva Bozeman, Velynka Flounder, Sonya (Shalaine) JamesFreeland, James 'Jimmy" (Tamira) Colvin, Felecia (Julius) Groomes, James (Tyrena Colvin, Sarah McCary, Jonathan (Brittany) McCray, Eric (Beatrice) McCary, Jade (Terrance) Dennis, Courtney (James) Squyres, Jacqueline McCary, Camillia McCary, Kimberly (Jermaine), Kevin McCary; 51 Great-Grandchildren, 9 Great-Great Grandchildren; God child, Pastor Glen Stoudemire; ; Individuals she took as children: Deacon Larry and Carolyn Jean Morgan, Deacon Earnest Thomas and Robin Thomas, Minister Hezekiah and Wanda Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
