As it pleased the Almighty God to call His son to eternal rest...............................................................................................................................................................................
Lorenzo Douglas transitioned from earthly toil to eternal rest on Saturday, July 27, 2020 surrounded by family, after a valiant battle with cancer. His devotion to family and his firm belief in God supported him throughout his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He was born November 20, 1941, to the late Isaac and Lily Ruth Black Douglas in Prattville, Alabama. He confessed his belief and devotion to Christ at an early age and continually nurtured spiritual ties and service at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Where he served faithfully, in numerous capacities, until his health failed, under the spiritual guidance and leadership of Rev. W. L. Marvin and Rev. Tommy L. Goodwin, Jr.
He was immersed in the community through various positions, serving others selflessly and untiringly. Local government on the City of Prattville Board of Zoning and Adjustments; Federal Government appointed to office by the Honorable President Ronald Regan to Selective Service Review Board. As a highly skilled construction craftsman, his work can be seen throughout central and south Alabama, both residential and commercial properties. As a mentor to young people of the community, helping to develop craftsmanship skills, guidance, and sharing the Gospel along the way, within the community and at the Autauga County Vocational School Masonry Department. Many of whom went on to start their own construction companies and making their marks in their communities.
Lorenzo was blessed with a large and loving family. He is dearly missed by his loved ones who will celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Isaac Jr., and Manuel Douglas; Sisters: D. Nelda Cain and Ruby D. Beavers.
