Luzell Davis was born on December 15, 1939 to union of the late Beatrice and Mitchell Davis, Sr. and was peacefully called home from labor to reward on November 16, 2020. He was preceded in death by the love of his life of 48 years Alberdia Brown Davis, his only beloved son, Darryl Travell Davis; and brother, Mitchell Davis, Jr.
He graduated from North Highland High School. Luzell had a passion for cooking and wanted everyone to taste his homemade bread pudding. He worked and retired from Bekins and Storage Company where he met and settled families from all over the world and often mentored the younger employees. In his spare time, he loved to work on crossword puzzles, watch daytime law shows (especially Judge Judy), talk to friends and family on the phone and sing of God's Amazing Grace.
He confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of the peace Missionary Baptist Church where he served and worshipped faithfully until his health prevented him from doing so. He was also a Trustee for The Rising Star Society #9. His personality matched his stature, unapologetically big and bold. He never met a stranger and if you were fortunate enough to meet him, time should not be a factor because he loved talk and tell stories.
He loved his family dearly and almost everyone who visited could not leave without seeing the most recent pictures he received. One thing that everyone could witness when meeting Luzell was his love for God and he built his life on serving Him.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a loving and devoted granddaughter, Ameltria Crisna (Carlos) Tolliver, A loving and supportive daughter-in-law, Carla Goodson-Davis; A great granddaughter whom he adored, Amiya Demetria Burns, all of Prattville, AL; sisters whom he adored; Ruby Lee McDowell, Ridgecrest, CA; Josie Dupree, San Bernardino, CA; Mary (Charles) Rouse San Bernardino, CA; loving brothers; Macarthur (Alice) Davis, Prattville, AL; Eddie (Mary) Davis, Ridgecrest, CA; Sammy (Jaqueline) Davis, Ridgecrest, CA; a loving brother-in-law, Herman Brown; a special niece, Nikki (Reginald) Davis Brown; special care givers, nephew Tyrone Dupree, Keith Cheeks, Pam, and Tangela Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and his Peace Baptist Church family.
