Mary Jones Obituary

Mary Lee Jones was born on May 19, 1939 to the late Harvest Carroll, Sr. and Eula V. Carroll in Autaugaville, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her son, Marvin G. Jones, a granddaughter, Gwendolyn Burns, two sisters, Voncile Underwood & Lauretta Tyus, and a brother, Harvest Carroll, Jr.

She received Christ at an early age and was active at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served in the Choir, Women's Auxiliary, Deaconess, Nurse's Guild, and Trustee Board for many years.

She grew up in Shiloh Community and graduated from the Autauga County Training School in 1957. She began her entrepreneurship as Owner and Director of Kiddyland Child Development Daycare Center, which was located in Statesville, and Westgate Learning Center for over 25 years. Her affiliations were Order of Eastern Star and FOCAL/Federation of Childcare Centers of Alabama.

On September 23, 1957, she was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Rufus Jones. During this union of almost 65 years, they were blessed to nurture and parent eight wonderful children.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband, Rufus Jones; seven loving and devoted children, Rufus Carl (Teresa) Jones, Cassandra A. Jones-Momoh, Stanford C. (Tiffany) Jones, Jermaine N. (Alisa) Jones, Jason M. (Rashaunda) Jones, Jimmie L. (Michelle) Callen, and Eddie L. Callen; sixteen grandchildren, Joseph T. Rawlinson, Sr., Cameren J. Burns, Celiya (Kelsey) Houston, Estoria Howard, Malaika A. Momoh, Immanuel A. Momoh, Alandria K. Chappell, Justice F. Momoh, Carlton J. Jones, Rufus C. Jones Il, Jeremiah M. Jones, Carlissa E. Jones, Joshua C. Jones, Kynnedi S. Walker-Jones, Jordan K. Motley, and Jonathon S. Motley; nine great-grandchildren, Joseph T. Rawlinson Jr., Deliya A. Houston, De'Aysha A. Houston, Kamauri J. Houston, Kelsey J. Houston Jr., Kaycie J. Houston, Jerzi Ford, Kingston Curry, and Jace Motley; six sisters, Helen Calloway, Odesta Tyus, Annie (Wille Lewis) Tyus, Dorethea Howard, Cathy Davis, & Wanda (James) Hill; two brothers, Larry (Jeanetta) Carroll & Willie Robert (Beverly) Carroll and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memories.
