Mary (Duncan) McGhee

Our God creates all living things and on August 18, 1945, he created Mary Lee Duncan McGhee in his perfect image for her parents the late Jimmy Lee Duncan and Dithia Washington of Elmore County, Alabama.

On October 18, 2021, God dispatched his heavenly angels to capture the soul of Mary and bring her home to live eternally among her father, mother, husband, and granddaughter.

Mary received her education in Elmore County Public School System. Mary gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined Goodship Missionary Baptist Church in Millbrook, AL under the pastorship of Reverend J. C. Provitt she was baptized. She served on the usher board, senior choir, and deaconess board until her health failed. She was a committed and devoted member of the Esther's of American No. 1.

Mary was the wife of the late Bobby McGhee for over 57 years. She was an employee of the Elmore County Board of Education where she worked as a cafeteria  specialist at Millbrook Middle School in Millbrook, Alabama. Mary retired from Elmore County Board of Education after over 20 years of faithful and loyal devotion. Mary was a dearly loved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, and friend to all who knew her and she will be dearly missed. Mary always greeted you with a smile willing and ready to assist you in any capacity.

Mary had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ , and we know today that she looks down on us from Heaven.

Mary was family oriented and she lived a very happy and fruitful life. Her favorite past time was cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories five loving daughters: Darlene McGhee, Barbara (Leonard) James, Danny McGhee, Landa Zeigler, and Venice (Conrad) McQueen; One Brother: Danny Lykes; One devoted sister: Nellie Williams; seven adorable grandchildren: Derrick Bobby Jr., Keosha, Rontavious, Me'Geal, O' Donald and Donaniquia; Eleven great grandchildren: Camille, Darriya, Ke'myiah, Rya, Addison, Paislay, Justin, Rose, and Kylie; a devoted nephew: Emille Williams; three sisters-in-law: Eartha Reeves, Mary (Terry) Curry, Sadie McGhee; Three brothers-in-law: Harvey (Mary McGhee), David (Jeanetta) McGhee, and Michel McGhee. a host of nieces, nephews, and many , many friends including special friend JoAnn Crawford.
