Mrs. Mattie Mae Thomas was born December 26, 1 933 in Montgomery County, Alabama. She peacefully departed this life on Friday, January 28, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Aaron and Beatrice Lewis. To this union 14 children were born.
She found Christ at an early age and united in Old Elam Baptist Church (Madison Park), Montgomery, Alabama. Later years she moved to Autauga County. She met Steve Thomas Sr. her husband and was united in holy matrimony. Nine children were born to this union, four sons, five daughters, and one special grandchild that she raised as her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents Aaron and Beatrice Lewis; husband: Steve Thomas Sr.; children: Steve Thomas Jr., James Thomas, and Beatrice Thomas, and all of her siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children; four daughters: Annie McLemore, Shirley Thomas, Mattie Bell, and Nancy Henderson all of Prattville, AL; two sons: Author (Shannon) Thomas of Prattville, AL and Johnny Thomas of Montgomery, AL; granddaughter: Tangy (Daryle) Gray of Pike Road, AL; twenty-six grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Cornelia Lewis of Prattville, AL. A host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. A devoted family friend Patricia Benson Jones.
