Ornzie Mae Reese was born September 4, 1949, in Browns, Alabama. She transitioned peacefully with family, at home, in Prattville, Alabama on November 5, 2021.
After high school, Ornzie attended Selma University in Selma, Alabama for a short time before transferring to Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. There she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She went on to earn a Master of Education degree at Troy University, also in Montgomery.
She was the second of 9 children born to Johnice and the late-Aaron Reese Sr. Ornzie had three siblings to precede her in death, Vaple and Eloise Reese, and Dorothy English. She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Reese, who will forever treasure the love and influence her mother had in shaping her life. Her mother, Johnice Reese; two sisters, Geraldine Farmer and Gloria (Reese) Miller; three brothers, Aaron Jr., Anthony and Rodney Reese. They, too, will always remember her affectionately. She has halfsiblings, sisters-in-law and a host of, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and countless other relatives and friends who will also remember her fondly.
Ornzie's approach to life was usually rational, practical, and organized. She was a perfectionist at heart and consistently sought to improve her talents. She was a great communicator - being an educator, her ability to articulate her position on most topics was impeccable. She served for over 36 years in the Marengo County School System as an educator. She was very passionate about helping others, especially kids and those in need. Ornzie took it upon herself to expose her younger siblings to some of the finer things that life had to offer.
For over four years, Ornzie served as a host parent to exchange students from Thailand, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Mongolia, Portugal and Mexico.
Ornzie was an intellect and loved to read. She was outspoken and seldom shy about speaking truthfully-even if hurtful - but not necessarily with mal-intent. Ornzie was an avid sports
