Pastor Daniel McCall’s Journey
Pastor Daniel McCall was born in Lowndes County, Al on November 28, 1932. He was born the 3d child of ten toJimmie McCall and Captoria Owens McCall. At an early age he was baptized and joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Hope Hull, AL.
On February 24, 1951, he was united in holy matrimony to Ida Bell Thornes. To this union they were blessed with 8 wonderful children. The oldest child, Daniel McCall, died the day of his birth.
He worked on the railroad for about 3 years, living in New Orleans during that time. He worked at a trucking company in Detroit MI for a while. After returning to Alabama in 1956, he started working at Sabel Steel. While serving as a Foreman, he was responsible for the development of the company's Fabrication Division. After 42 years of service, he retired as a company supervisor on March 27, 1998.
Once he was called into the ministry in 1976, he pastored two churches. He pastored Macedonia Baptist Church, Prattville, AL for 32 years. Service was held on the 1st, 3rd and 4thSundays. He served as pastor of Hickory Chapel Baptist Church, Ramer, AL for 38 years. Service was held on 2nd and 5th Sundays. He was a strong believer in having Sunday School and Bible Study. After leaving Macedonia, he continued to serve faithfully at Hickory Chapel until his health began to fail. He also served as Moderator of the Galilee District Association.
Pastor McCall was proceeded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Captoria McCall; brothers: William Roger, John Wesley, and Jimmie McCall; sister: Mamie Lee Jackson; son: John R. Jefferson; grandchildren: Tiffany Williams, Daniel Christian McCall, Daniel Roman McCall and Horace Mays Jr.; great grands: Takira Gaston, Jayden Mays, and Skylar Mays.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his loving and devoted wife of 74 years, Ida Bell McCall. Brothers,Edward (Terri) McCall, New York, New York, Paul Russell, Willie B. McCall, Montgomery, AL. Sisters, Anna Barrett, Lithonia, GA, Dorthy Morton, Las Vegas, NV, and Endia McCall, Montgomery, AL. Children; Barbara Jefferson, Daniel and Mary Faye McCall, Lindsey and Ethel McCall, Shirley and Horace Mays, John Calvin and Ella McCall, Gregory and Linda McCall, all of Montgomery, AL and Anthony and Dolores McCall, Largo, FL. 35 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
