Mae Stoudemire, a beloved matriarch and a beacon of love and resilience, passed away peacefully on August 28th at the age of 90. She was a remarkable woman whose presence was as warm and comforting as the meals she lovingly prepared for her community. Sadie’s kitchen was not just a place for cooking; it was a sanctuary where the aroma of her famous dishes filled the air, drawing everyone together. Her culinary skills were legendary, and each meal was a testament to her love, often shared with laughter and stories that created cherished memories.
Sadie was a loving mother to her three children, Timothy Stoudemire, Angela Townsend (Alonzo Townsend), and Greg Stoudemire (deceased). She took immense pride in her role as a mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin, nurturing and guiding her family with unwavering support and wisdom. Her grandchildren, Christopher A. Stoudemire, Ke’brina A. Townsend, Devin A. Townsend, Gregory “Kwan” Steele, Latonya Stoudemire, Brittany Stoudemire, LaPorsher Harbison, and Durell Austin, along with her great-grandchildren, Isiah, Camden, Roman, Keilyn, Brailyn, Jordyn, Breasia, Timothy “Tim-Tim”, Zi’liah, Alana, Brianna, Ra-Kell, and many others, were the apples of her eye. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in their achievements and milestones, often celebrating with her home-cooked feasts.
In addition to her immediate family, Sadie is survived by her cherished nieces and nephews: Cornelia Crawford (married to David Crawford), Vanessa Bibb (married to Fred Bibb), Wayne Averhart (married to Opal Averhart), Leamon Stoudemire Jr., Bobby Stoudemire, Paulette Williams, Luellen Cooper, Loretta Stoudemire, and Monica Marshall. Each one held a special place in her life, and she shared her wisdom, love, and laughter with them generously.
Sadie was not just a family member; she was the glue that held them all together. Her ability to impart knowledge and life lessons was unparalleled. She taught her family the importance of kindness, resilience, and the value of family bonds. Sadie had a unique gift for making everyone feel cherished and special, whether through her words, or by simply being present in their lives.
Her extended family and friends also knew her as a source of strength and comfort. Sadie's laughter was infectious, and her spirit was truly uplifting. She had a way of finding joy in the simplest moments, reminding everyone around her to appreciate life’s blessings.
Sadie Mae Stoudemire will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, strength, and family unity will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. We thank you for your condolences during this difficult time as we celebrate the extraordinary life of a remarkable woman.
