Shakila Gibson Obituary

I made me debut into this world as Shakila Shareece Gibson on July 11, 1978, the second daughter born to Brenda Gibson and Duane Gibson.

My life was amazing and filled with lots of love from family and friends. I grew up in Flint, Michigan and Prattville, Alabama. Some of my best memories of my youth were spent at Autaugaville High school. I graduated Prattville High School in 1997 then entered into the workforce, working at Sam's Club and Autumn Place where I met some very kind and supportive friends. Additionally, I attended Virginia College and obtained my certification as a CNA. That's when my life's purpose in helping and serving the elderly began. I enjoyed every moment of working with them, until my illness prevented me from doing so. Even though I was in that hospital bed, I still managed to minister and share the goodness of the Lord.

Faith in God has been my rock. I was a dedicated member of Old Kingston Church, under the leadership of Reverend Ben carter.

It was a pleasure and an honor to have been born into such a great and loving family. I'd like to give special thanks to my mother Brenda Gibson, Sister Antwanette, nannie Bertha McLaughlin, aunts Pam and Tammy for their dedication to my care. There were some exceptional moments where I spent time watching television and playing games with Aria, Kalayja and other special little cousins. Some of my favorite past times was couponing and finding sales bargains. Nothing was dearest to my heart than watching sports and attending events with my son "Tank". Raising him and being a sports mom at East memorial Academy was exciting and rewarding. Even more so, watching him grow into manhood and serve our country was even more endearing.

My beloved family, the timeless memories are numerous and my life here with you was filled with more love than I can describe. Please cherish the pieces of me that I have left- videos, social media, and photos. Most of you know , my last couple of years of life was filled with pain, but i promised you there was much more peace in knowing and receiving the love that was given to me. Please don't worry about me now, for I am FREE.

I leave to adore my fond memories: Son: Artavious Goodson; Mother: Brenda Gibson; Father: Duane Gibson; Siblings: Antwanette Gibson, Robert Abecrombie, Talanna Minor, Donika Brown, Duane Fortt, and Jamar Mills; Aunts: Pamela Hall, Tammy Henderson, Patricia Torrey, Darlene Leon Phelps, Elnora (Barry) Mitchell, Terenzia (Vincent): Uncles: Lorenzo (Glenda) Avery, Antwan 9Chelsea) McLaughlin; Great Aunt: Mary Hodge; Great Uncles: Milton (Darlene) Hodge, Rudy (Alice) Gibson, a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Old Kingston Church Family, BMT, UAB Hospital, my coworkers at Autumn Place, Sam's Club Family, and Autaugaville HS Class of '97.

I was preceded in death by: Grandparents: Ellis Avery, Earlene and James Gibson, Jr.; Uncles: Cazzie Avery, Bobby Hall, Bobby Henderson, Denzell and Derrick Gibson, special cousin, Tamika Hall and her beloved Bear.
