Walter Chappell, Jr. was born on March 24, 1946, to his proud parents, Walter and Jessie Pettiway Chappell, both preceded him in death; a proud grandmother, Mary Chappell, who raised him after the passing of his mother, also preceded him in death. Walter was the baby of the four children, one preceded him in death, Joe Chappell.
Walter accepted Christ as his Savior at St. Matthew Baptist Church, Selma, Alabama.
He worked different jobs, but he especially talked about Gurney and Unicare in Prattville. Walter also known as “Head” was a man who made you laugh, joked about how fast he would drive, and how he holds up traffic now.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted and loving wife, Ruby Love Chappell; Five children: Teresa (Tim) Ware and Percy Chappell of Chicago, IL; James Chappell of Autaugaville, AL; Cassandra Chappell of Midlothian, IL; and Wade Chappell of Chicago, IL; One stepson: Christopher Love, Greenville, AL; Two Brothers: Willis (Vivian) Chappell and Larry (Marlene) Clay; Four Sisters: Jessie Clancey of New York, Chenelle (George) Woods, Dorothy and Ruby Clay; eight grandchildren; Tyeisha and Johnathan (Cheyenne) Valentine, Jakeise Adams, Timia and Timya Ware, Coreshia, Cammeyun, and Cadariyus Love; three great grandchildren; Peyton Hayden, and Jebreon; mother-in-law: Louisa Love; brothers-in-law and sisters- in –law: Ethel Love, Pearlie Love (Shirley), Louisa Love Butler, George Love, Vivian Wilson, Susan Love, and Mattie Love Yabrough (Rev. Leon); one uncle: John Pettiway and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
