Willie Tyus Obituary

Willie Melvin Tyus was the fourth child born to the late Willie (Sonny Boy) King and Sarah Ann Tyus Nixon in Autaugaville, Alabama, on October 4, 1966. He was born into a loving family of four sisters and three brothers.

He was a believer in Christ and accepted Him as his personal Lord and Savior.

His early education began at Autaugaville Elementary School and then continued at Autaugaville High School in Autaugaville, Alabama.

Melvin married the love of his life, Cora Bell Sanders on August 18, 1997 and through this union they were blessed with one child, and he loved and was happy to be blessed with a bonus son.

Mr. Willie Melvin Tyus transitioned peacefully and triumphantly in his sleep on January 10, 2023.

Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his departure are: his loving mother, Sarah Ann Tyus and her husband Earnest Nixon, Jr. of Prattville, AL; his loving and devoted wife, Cora Bell Sanders; two devoted sons, Cordell Tyus of Prattville, AL and Cordrick Sanders of Memphis, TN and one daughter Ebony Seabon of Montgomery, AL; five sisters whom he adored, Brenda Tyus, and Artherine Tyus of Autaugaville, AL, Deloise (Marvin) Perry and Shanika Nixon of Prattville, AL, and Diane King Woods of Selma, AL; five brothers, Deilrow (Elizabeth) Tyus, Charlie Tyus of Autaugaville, AL, Travis (Alandria) Nixon of Moody, AL., Willie Jerome (Linda) King of Birmingham, AL, and Ethan King of Chicago, IL; two granddaughters whom he deeply loved, Taylor Sanders of Ramer, AL and Euriyah Sanders of Fort Carson, CO; three aunts, Mary Francis (Leroy) Yeilder of Hayneville, AL, Dollie Watson and Michelle Cleveland of Montgomery, AL; nine uncle, Rich (Barbara— Deceased) Tyus of Autaugaville, AL, Dan (Patricia) Watson, Larry Adams, Charles Adams and Richmond Watson of Hayneville, AL, Joe (Mary Ann) Watson, Anthony (Sabrina) Cleveland and Authur (Latrice) Watson of Montgomery, AL and Robert (Jackie) Watson of  Tuscaloosa, AL. He also leaves to cherish his memories: seven sisters-in-law, Ethel (Samuel) Motley, Louise (Leon) Palmer, Betty Sanders, Diane Sanders all of Autaugaville, AL, Corrine Smith, Delois (Jessie) Jackson and Shirley Albert all of Prattville, AL; one brother in-law, Will Sanders of Prattville, AL; one devoted nephew whom he loved as a son, Alexander (Erica) Sanders of Autaugaville, AL; two childhood friends whom he loved like brothers, Mark Shepard of Prattville, AL and Anthony Willis of Tuscaloosa, AL. Additionally, he leaves a legacy of love to many outstanding nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
