On Wednesday, June 24th , 2020 an angel of the Lord was dispatched to Jackson hospital in Montgomery, Alabama. Our sweet loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother , sister, aunt and friend answered the call to leave this earth and entered into everlasting life in heaven with Jesus to rest and be at peace.
Yvonne was the baby of Lizzie Mae and Brady Bowman. This bundle of joy was born on December 10, 1949 in Autauga County. She obeyed the word of God, Roman 10:9. If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. She was an active member of Ward Chapel A.M. E. Church where she served as a choir member and so beautiful praised God with her stunning alto voice.
Yvonne was a graduate of North Highland School class of 1968. She was an employee at Maxwell Child Care for forty years. After retirement she enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. In addition to attending and participating in activities at the Gillespie Senior Adult Center with some very special friends, Tricia, Janie and Jennie. She would also have fun on road trips to special places for little socialization, watching television and sitting on her porch willing to have a unique conversation with everyone.
She could always end a day eating her favorite meat "fried chicken", and by all means attending football games was highlight of her day.
Yvonne was formerly the wife of Herman Moncrief and together sharing their love and friendship four beautiful children were born, Derrick, Herman, Semetria and Nakesha. Happily she would not let a day pass without talking about her babies who were her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, grandmother, mother, father and six siblings.
Yvonne was a wonderful person who was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. Love ones that will miss her until they meet again are her biological children, Derrick (Demecia), Herman (April), Semetria (Jerome) and Nakesha (Michael), she also exemplified a mothering spirit to Maverick (Tinisha) and Stephanie (Eric), eighteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother, Grady Bowman, one sister, Lois Hayes, nephews, nieces, she continued to love her brother-in-law, Charles and Will, sisters-in-law, Vickey and Earlene, including David Lee Marshall, other relatives and many, many friends, including Ward Chapel A. M .E. church family.
