Mr. Ricardo Tierre Matthews, "Swannie", 36, a resident of Autaugaville, Alabama passed away Friday, September 22, 2017.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1pm from First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church, 335 N Pickett Street Autaugaville, Alabama with Rev. Woodie Melton, Pastor officiating.  Burial to follow at Walter Jones Cemetery, Pickett Mill Road Autaugaville, Alabama.

Ricardo, affectionately known as 'Plunkett' to some and 'Swannie' to others, a native of Autauga County, grew up in the Town of Autaugaville, AL, was born June 20, 1981. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the First Missionary Baptist Church, Autaugaville, AL. He attended school in the Autauga County School system, where he was an outstanding athlete, on the football field, basketball court and the baseball field. He was a beloved youth football coach. He later started working for the Town of Autaugaville where he was a valued and model employee for the past I I years.

Ricardo helped whomever he could, with whatever he had. On and off the clock, he has helped many people around Autaugaville with their water problems, most times, 'free of charge!' He will truly be missed!

Ricardo was preceded in death by his younger brother, Eldrick Golson; grandparents, Elijah and Emma Matthews and Wiley Chappell, Sr.; his aunt, Mary Safford;, uncles, Elijah and Freeman Matthews.

'Cardo' leaves to cherish his undying love: his devoted wife, whom he adored dearly, Sallie P. Matthews; a loving and caring mother, Janice (Vonzell) Golson, of Autaugaville, AL; a faithful and dedicated father, Glen (Louvenia) Matthews of Prattville, AL; three sons, with whom he shared a genuine relationship: Makenzie Matthews, Dewaun Stubbs and Antonio Hardy; one loving daughter, Laquindra Parker; three beautiful sisters and five brothers, whom he shared a deep love, Danielle and Gabrielle Matthews and Lequita Tyus; Jarvis Matthews, Jamie Golson, Larry Seabon, Jr., Timothy Rawlinson and Markeal Golson; a dear grandmother Doris Golson of Autaugaville, AL; A loving father and mother-in-law, Bennie and Eula Parker, Sr. of Jones, AL. Also left, not to mourn, but cherish his memory, aunts; Juanita Golson, Autaugaville, AL; Joy (Jerry) Motley, Tammy (Grailen) Motley, Prattville, AL; Uncles, Wesley Golson, Michael Matthews, Kelvin Matthews, Clarence (Olivia) Chappell, Keith (Jewel) Chappell and Kendarious all  of Autaugaville, AL, Wiley (Sheila) Chappell and Michael James of Prattville, AL, Dale (Demetrius) Chappell of Montgomery, AL and Nathaniel Matthews of Buffalo, NY, Gussie (Cathy) Tyus of Birmingham, AL and Will Tyus of Billingsley, AL; four sisters in law, Ella (Terry) Nolen, Phelan (David) Henderson, Eliza (Cassius) Callens and Belinda (Marico) Lee; one brother-in-law, Bennie Parker, Jr., eight nephews, seven nieces, one great nephew and one great niece...


Four great-aunts, Irene Hall, Autaugaville, AL; Elba Woods, Shirley(Lewis) Sullens, Montgomery, AL and Carrie Williamson, Baltimore MD; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
